“If you become a soldier, you’ll be a general; if you become a monk, you’ll end up as the Pope.” Instead, I became a painter and wound up as Picasso.” – Pablo Picasso
When people offer small things with much love, never say no.. :)
It feels like a bad rejection..
Once in a while, get up when you want..
not when you ‘have’ to.. :)
When mood off, think within the circle of influence..
I guess it is important to first accept we are.. find out the cause and see if something can be done. Key again would be to work within the circle of influence..
Oh and here’s something about the circle of influence.. :)
Circle of Influence – Inspired from Stephen R Covey’s book
When seeking to free India from the British Empire, Gandhi didn’t go to London to protest and bad-mouth the British rule. Instead, he went out to the rice paddies in Indian villages, quietly expanding his influence with the field laborers. As a result, a ground swell of support, trust and confidence followed him. Even though he held no office, and just through compassion, courage, fasting, and moral persuasion he brought Empire to its knees, breaking its political domination of India. Gandhi did this by focusing on his ‘Circle of Influence’, things he had control over and expanded his influence to his ‘Circle of Concern’ – eventually achieving independence from the Empire.
This week, let’s focus our effort on things we can do something about – our circle of influence, and accept the things we can’t control. Hopefully our influence too will grow to cover our concerns in due time.
The greatest teachers are the greatest students.
Sign of a true master is fantastic ability to learn..
Spend time on making something special for a friend..
It makes you feel really good.. especially if the friend is a special one..
There is something very nice about doing something for special people.. :)
When feeling discontented, take 15 mins to play life leader..
That’s the time to check if we are in the right place, doing the right things..
Management is a never ending project to increase efficiency and do more.. leadership questions which/what is the right thing.
I like Covey’s example –
Management is like cutters in a forest and focussing on maximising their efficiency.
Leadership is climbing on a tree and saying ‘wrong forest’! :)
Changing paradigm..
I had a tough tough time trying to put lenses into my eye as it involved me having to accept the fact that my hands would touch my eye.. took 20 mins in total to just get them in and out of both eyes. Apparently its a process that takes getting used to.. changing paradigm! :)
Learning the right bowling technique..
was a great experience. I have always wanted to know what is the right way to bowl. Turns out I was somewhere there in terms of technique but obviously not there.. and I had always wanted to know and learn how to do it but the very fact that I geenerally go bowling with friends.. and the fact that we compete more often than not – led to me never giving myself the space to learn..
now.. that i have a voucher with 15 free games.. it gives me a lot more leeway.. and it is nice to learn.. rather than just go there and try my luck.. :)
Charisma is simply making others feel great and empowered..
True masters are charismatic.. they win people by their humility and by making the next person special! :)
